About the Google Display Network
The Google Display Network can help you reach users as they browse their favorite websites, show a YouTube video to a friend, check their Gmail account, or use mobile devices and apps.
How does it work?
The Google Display Network is designed to help you find the right audience. Your targeting options allow you to strategically show your message to potential customers in the right place and time. Here are some examples of how you can use targeting:
Find new customers or interact with your existing customers by using audiences. Lookalike Audiences and in-market audiences allow you to target users who are most likely to be interested in your products, helping you find new potential customers. You can also use data, such as remarketing lists, to help you re-engage users who previously visited your site.
Drive more conversions by using automation. Auto-targeting helps you get more conversions as you search for high-performing audiences based on your existing audiences and landing page. Thanks to automatic optimization that occurs over time, Google Ads can identify the most suitable audiences for your ads. Automatic bidding automatically adjusts your bid to help you achieve the return on investment you want. Smart Display Campaigns combine the best of automated creatives, bidding, and targeting to maximize your conversions on Google Ads.
How to reach people through images
The Display Network gives you the ability to capture your users' attention with attractive ad formats. Here are some of the types of ads you can run on the Display Network:
Responsive display ads. The creation of these types of ads on the Google Display Network is, in part, automatic. To create them, you just need to enter your ad text, then add your images and logo, and Google will optimize your ads to improve performance. (You can also use our image library for free.) Both new and advanced users can take advantage of responsive ads because they display as "native" ads, meaning they adapt to the publisher's site design.
Note: Responsive display ads will replace responsive ads as the new default ad type on the Display Network. If you are currently running responsive ads, you will be prompted to save them as Responsive Display Ads.
Ads with images uploaded. For more control, you can create and upload your ads. You can upload ads as different size images or as HTML5.
Participatory advertisements. Run attractive image and video ads on YouTube and the Display Network.
Gmail ads. Show expandable ads on the top tabs of users' inboxes.
When ads are shown
While the Search Network allows you to reach users when they search for specific goods or services, the Display Network can help you grab their attention earlier in the buying cycle. You can show your ads to people before they start searching for your service or product, which can be key to your overall advertising strategy. You can also remind users about products or services they are interested in, as in the case of remarketing targeting people who previously visited your site or app.
Measure your results
Google Ads allows you to measure whether you are meeting your goals. See which web pages are serving your ads, which ads give you the most clicks, and which sites offer you the most value at the lowest cost.
Plan ahead
Changes to the Display Network can take 12-24 hours to take effect and may not show up immediately. Keep this in mind when creating a new campaign or making changes to an existing one. We recommend that you set up your campaign a few days before launch and set the start date in the future.
